English Version:

The parable of the lost sheep is a story that Jesus told in the Bible to illustrate God’s love for sinners and his willingness to go to great lengths to bring them back into the fold. The parable appears in both the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke.

In the parable, a shepherd has a flock of 100 sheep, but one of them goes missing. The shepherd leaves the 99 sheep and goes out into the wilderness to search for the lost sheep. He searches high and low until he finally finds the lost sheep, and then he rejoices and brings it back to the flock. Jesus concludes the parable by saying, “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

The parable of the lost sheep teaches us several important lessons. First, it shows us the extent of God’s love and care for each one of us. Like the shepherd who searches tirelessly for his lost sheep, God seeks us out and welcomes us back into his fold when we stray. Second, it reminds us of our own value and importance in God’s eyes. Even if we feel lost or insignificant, God sees us as precious and worth searching for. Finally, the parable challenges us to have the same kind of love and compassion for others that God has for us. We are called to reach out to those who are lost or hurting, and to rejoice when they are found and restored.
